Samoan Language Week Pattern

LI: make a pattern for Samoan language week.

For this task me and Maurice made a design for Samoan Language Week. We did a research about a variety of questions about a Samoan tatau or known as in English a tattoo. For our design, it has many types of Samoan patterns and it also contains a Samoan flag.

First design – left flower: Our has 2 different Samoan patterns: for our wave it represents the water that surrounds Samoa and the dots represent the bumps of our personal story.

Second designmiddle flower: Our flower in the middle represents the peace within Samoa, which will hopefully be in the world too.

Final design – end flower: This flower represents  the Samoan  flag.  It shows power in the Samoan community.

I enjoyed this task becasuse it helped me learn about my culture and it also can help other people that doesn’t know about this culture.

Subtraction Algorthim

LI: to make steps to subtraction algorthim

What is subtraction algorithm?
Subtraction algorithm is the same strategy as addition but is used to subtract the number to get the answer.

Steps to solve a subtraction algorithm:

The first step in every algorithm is to align the number. (This is the most important step because this helps solve the answer).
– The next step is to subtract 8 – 7, which equals 1.
– The next step is to subtract 7 – 4, which equals 3.
– The last step is to subtract 9 – 2, which equals 7.
– Then lastly the final answer is 731.

I enjoyed this task because this task can help other people on learning a strategy they need help on or learning a new strategy.

This week  we learnt about portion sizes and talked about it at AUT Millennium,  we talked about how protein should be served 2-3 time every day because it repair you bones, and muscles, Treats have sodium and a lot of sugar that’s why treats should be eaten once a day. Vegetables and fruit should be the most servings on your plate because it is the healthiest thing on the plate. Grains are food: bead , cereal, noodles, rice, and etc. This is at least 6 serving a day. Milk and milk products are food and drinks like: milk, chocolate milk, cheese, and different types of cheese, yoghurt.

I enjoyed this because I love learning about food portions and healthy eating.

Water Safety – Inquiry

LI: to make a poster or animation about water safety

For this task we learnt about water safety and how to survival in the water for a long amount of time. The water safety helps people stay safe and warm inside the water. As you know life jackets are very useful for surviving in different situations. Eg: drowning, not knowing how to swim, and different dangerous ways of being inside the water. Thank you to the AUT Millennium for teaching us how to stay safe in the water.

I enjoyed this task because we learnt how to stay safe and make sure a rescue helicopter comes and make sure your safe.

Subtraction Algorthim – Maths

LI: to calculate the difference of whole numbers, using algorthim.
LI: to subtract using algorthims.

Algorithm is a method used in math to add, subtract, and multiply big numbers. To be able to use algorithm you would need to know your place value and basic number knowledge. Like times tables and simple addition or subtraction. Algorithm subtraction is lining up the numbers into their place value columns, and subtracting them that way.

I enjoyed this task because I enjoy using algorthim to find out the answer for subtraction.

Addition Algorthim – Maths

LI: to learn and understand the basics of addition algorthim

Algorithm is a method used in math to add, subtract, and multiply big numbers. To be able to use algorithm you would need to know your place value and basic number knowledge. Like times tables and simple addition or subtraction. Algorithm Additionis lining up the numbers in their correct column and adding them that way. The ones would be 3 and 5, the tens would be 20 and 40, and the hundreds would be 200 and 100. You add the ones with the ones, the tens with the tens, and the hundreds with the hundreds.

I enjoyed this task because I love learning about maths and algorthim.

Howick Historical Village

LI: to make a collage about the Howick Historical Village

For this task we went around a place named howick historical village and saw what New Zealand in 1850s. For this trip, we had 3 tasks: the butter making, making trolleys and riding it, and finallly looking around and going into the houses to see what was inside the houses. The butter tasted like the butter in the real butter in countdown.

I enjoyed going around and experiencing what the 1850s in New Zealand looked like from today and the 1850s.

Appropriate Noise – PB4L

LI: to learn the expected behaviour for appropriate noise.

For this task we created a DLO and explained about the appropriate noise for the expected behaviors in some places. For example: if you’re in church, and there’s people that are talking in church loudly, they would get in trouble because they don’t have a appropriate noise level for church.

We enjoyed this task because we learnt about the appropriate noise level in different places. We would like to improve in our explaining because we only got one place to explain the noise level in different places.

Sentence Structure

LI: to learn the three different sentences

For this challenge we understood the meaning of the three sentences, simple, compound, and complex. This challenge was to choose one of the 4 opinions to see if the sentence was a, simple, compound, complex, or a complex / compound. If you got the answer right you were able to win fake money. For example: the answer is able to win $200 and then move on to $300, then $400 and so on. My highest on this challenge was $500,000 and I wasn’t able to hit the jackpot $1,000,000.

I enjoyed this game because this helped me improve in my writing and helping me to learn more about different sentences.

Simple, Compound, and Complex Sentences

LI: to understand what the 3 sentences.

For this task we understood what the 3 sentences is for writing. The 3 sentences are: simple sentence, compound sentence, and complex sentence. A simple sentence is one independent clause or an idea that contains a noun or a verb. A compound sentence is 2 simple sentences, combined with a conjunction word or a FANBOYS. A complex sentence is an independent clause and another clause, but also using aaawwubbis. (ALL WAYS START A SENTENCE WITH A CAPTAIL SENTENCE AND END THE SENTENCE WITH A FULL STOP)

I enjoyed this task because it helped me by writing sentences. I need to improve on writing complex sentences because I need to write more detail and stronger vobac.
