Treaty of Waitangi

LI: to understand the Treaty of Waitangi.

For this task we read and noted information about the Treaty of Waitangi. For this task we were in partners and had to summarise: Why is the Treaty of Waitangi Important and What is the Treaty of Waitangi? On the blue DLO we summed up the text.

I enjoyed this task because we got to learn about the text and the Treaty of Waitangi.

Celebrating Diwali

LI: To use your smart searching skills to find out what Diwali is and how people celebrate around the world.

Our challenge was to write create a DLO that tells others what Diwali is and how people celebrate around the world. Something I found interesting was the colourful designs/patterns because it stood out to me because the colours were bright and bold.

I found this activity fun because I loved the story behind Diwail and the colourful patterns.

Phares dans la Tempete, la Jument

LI: To use your smart searching skills to find the story behind this picture

Our challenge was to write create a DLO that shows where this lighthouse is and what the story is behind the image. We found out that the Phares dans la Tempete, la Jument is a lighthouse in Quessant in French.

I found this activity interesting because I never knew that was a person inside of the lighthouse, I also loved the story behind this image.

Inchcape Rock

LI: To find and summarise the story behind the poem.

No stir in the air, no stir in the sea. The sound of the shock waves flew over Inchcape Rock. Abbot of Aberbrothock that placed the bell of Inchcape Rock. The surge’s of swell the warning bell, the perilous rock blest Abbot Aberbrothock. The sun was shining gay, all things were a joyance day. The inchcape bell was seen to be a dark pixel. Sir Ralph was cheering Spring, his whistle made him sing. Sir Ralph told his men “row me to Inchcape Bell.” Sir Ralph sourced  the sea for many days and plunder’d. They couldn’t see the sky , and the hath died away. The Rover makes his stand for the land is dark. Near the shore they hoped, to hear the Inchcape Bell. No sound heard as the wind blew from every side. The waves were rushing from every side to the boat. The sound was dreadful of the devil ringing his knell.

Our challenge was to unpack the story behind the 17 verses of the poem Inchcape Rock by Robert Southy. The part I found interesting was reading the poem because I loved the rhymes to the poem.

I found this activity interesting because I loved the rhymes in the poem and the 10 word summarys for our summary.

Main Ideas

LI: To identify the main ideas in the text

This week we have been learning how to find and collaboratively decide on the main idea in a text by negotiating. We read the text Lester and Clyde. This was a text about the consequences of pollution. Our group think the main idea was to think of our consequences before doing an action as it shows us in story on how polluting in our drains can endanger our different animal life.

We found this activity interesting because we all used our collaborative and communtion skills  to help us find the most important main idea.

SSR Selfie

I learnt SSR Selfie.

First I got a book and read for 15 minutes. The book was called bad guys. Bad guys are people that do bad things. For example: bad guys does crimes like robbing the bank and stealing peoples money.

Next I made a recount, and listed 3 new words. For example: if I didn’t know a word from a book, I note them and find the meaning of the word.

I enjoyed this task because I like reading. I need to improve on reading the book. I did well on finding new words.

Reading – Quiz

I learnt the purposes, users, stakeholders, the controversy, and the history of the technology.

First we revised on all of our work over the 3 weeks. We added some history things about the television on our quiz. For example: who invented the first TV with colors? Then we put in people that invented other things and the person who made the first TV with colors.

Next we made a quiz about the television. We are still working on the quiz. The quiz was hard to make because we didn’t plan out who’s doing the things. We forgot to do our final product, our detailed information, information needed, and other things.

I enjoyed this task because I enjoyed making the quiz. I need to improve on adding the links for our quiz. I did well on adding the questions for our quiz.

Reading – Podcast

I learnt how to write a script for our podcast. Our podcast is about bad or good things about televisions. The main topic for our podcast is the bad things (nitrogen trifluoride) about televisions.

First I research the bad things about televisions. A main thing that is bad for televisions is nitrogen trifluoride. Nitrogen trifluoride is a man-made gas that uses atoms. Atoms are the smallest part of the chemical. For example: the main bit for nitrogen trifluoride is that it helps the technology to use the electronic.

Next we learnt that nitrogen trifluoride is a gas that can harm the person. For example: if the gas (nitrogen trifluoride) is inhaled. The chemicals of the gas could kill, cause headaches, double vision, sleeplessness, and other bad things that can harm the person.

Lastly we made a podcast about the good things about nitrogen trifluoride and the bad things about nitrogen trifluoride. For example: we wrote notes about the good things and bad things. Then said the good and bad things about nitrogen trifluoride.

I enjoyed making a podcast because I learnt lots of things about televisions, like: nitrogen trifluoride being used in the 2000s, but sometimes in the 2020s. My group needs to improve on talking louder. I did well on saying my sentence for our podcast.
