Market Day

LI: to create a DLO about Market Day

Technology unit were used for posters to make them colourful. The technology unit was for advertising. Some of the class’s had their advertising posters all around the school.

Market poster for each class were bright, colourful, jazzy, flashy, multicolor, and etc.

The design process had many types of designs like: colourful, glittery, and etc.The marketing had people buying things from there stall. The selling process of the each market stall had people advertising their amazing things that each class made.

The product of the market day had many different types of things that people wanted to buy, but my favourite was Room 1’s slime because it was made as perfection. The only thing that was bad about the sells is that, there wasn’t that much slime or playdough. LS2 had harakeke packets and had buy 1 get 1 free.

I enjoyed this activity because it was creative of thinking about having a fun time at Market day.

Celebrating Diwali

LI: To use your smart searching skills to find out what Diwali is and how people celebrate around the world.

Our challenge was to write create a DLO that tells others what Diwali is and how people celebrate around the world. Something I found interesting was the colourful designs/patterns because it stood out to me because the colours were bright and bold.

I found this activity fun because I loved the story behind Diwail and the colourful patterns.

Phares dans la Tempete, la Jument

LI: To use your smart searching skills to find the story behind this picture

Our challenge was to write create a DLO that shows where this lighthouse is and what the story is behind the image. We found out that the Phares dans la Tempete, la Jument is a lighthouse in Quessant in French.

I found this activity interesting because I never knew that was a person inside of the lighthouse, I also loved the story behind this image.

What happened down the stairs?

LI: To understand the 5 senses can be used to strengthen a description

Our challenge was to co construct a text using the olfactory, auditory, gustatorial, visual and kinethetic senses to describe the story behind the shoes in this image. This time we were able to speak and sat facing our partners. Once we had completed this part of the challenge we joined together with another group to share our writing and make sure what we had written made sense and had met the language feature challenge.

I found this activity enjoyable because we got to finish the story about the stairs.

A respectful leaders leads people or a person to they’re goal and help them out. • Other countries reacted to his death, New Zealand, USA (United States of America), UK (United Kingdom), South Africa, China, and etc.
  • They named Malietoa Tanumafili ll the great leader of Samoa because he led Samoa to the independence in 1962.

Collabortive Art

LI:  To use different types of warm and cool colours to recreate a world-known painting from Van Gogh.

This week’s art is about Van Gogh and his famous art piece “The Starry Night”. The Class was divided into 2 groups of 16 people, 1 of each group remade “The Starry Night” in warm colours and cool colours digitally. Each group divided 16 pieces of the Starry Night with each person in the group. Working as a collaborative team we gathered all or pieces to 1 DLO to finally reach our desired outcome. I found this activity interesting because I never knew the person that made Starry Night

Procedural Writing

LI: To write a set of clear instructions that show how to make a hangi.

  • Equipments
  • volcanic stones
  • shovel
  • paper
  • lighter
  • twigs/kindling
  • cloth sacks
  • metal basket (cooking tray)
  • hook tool
  • gloves
  • cylinder of water
  • leaves

  • Ingredients
    • vegetables (cabbage, potatoes, carrots, taro leaves, kumera, pumpkin)
    • meat (ox, chicken, beef, lamb, pork)
    • Stuffing.

Steps:

  1. Dig a hole that is at least 4 ft deep
  2. Once your done digging the hole, gather lots of twigs and some flat stones and  rough stones
  3. Find baskets that are made out of metal or cooking trays.
  4. Make sure that the hole can fit more than 2 baskets of food.
  5. Flatten the stones on the bottom of the pile of wood that can make fire lite.
  6. Lighten the wood in between the wood.
  7. Let the fire light for 3 hours. For then add the meat and the vegetables to the basket.
  8.  Peel or cut the vegetables while the fire is burning the wood.
  9. Place the meat in the Hangi.
  10. Place the foil on the basket or leaves like taro or banana leaves.
  11. Place the meat inside the basket make sure the meat and vegetables are in a different basket because if the vegetables are with the chicken it is most likely for the chicken to be raw and when u eat raw chicken you most likey get food poisoning
  12. When the stones turn red, place the stones in the pit.
  13. Wet the sacks or clothes and wet 1 or more sheets.
  14. Place it gently on top of each other.
  15. Place the basket of food on the hot stones.
  16. Place the wet sheet on top of the basket of foods.
  17. Use the wet sheets to cover the food so the food doesn’t have dirt on it.
  18. Cover the pit with dirt when the sheets and sacks are covering the food.
  19. Wait after 3 hours and remove the dirt slowly.
  20. Peel the wet sacks and sheets off the food.
  21. Remove the baskets of food. (Always wear gloves while doing this step.)
  22. Take the food out.

Safety Message for Hangi: Always keep an eye on the Hangi so it doesn’t burn the food, places, or trees. (Make sure that the Hangi is not near buildings.) Never let it sit by itself.

Today we unpacked how to follow and write a set of instructions. To do this effectively your instructions need to be explicit and the steps to follow ordered. Each step begins with an instructional verb and should be written in a way that is easy to understand,

I enjoyed the video about the hangi because I learnt about, what a hangi is and what they do. My goal for next time is double check on my work to see if it has instructional verb. To achieve this I will need to learn more about procedural text and become better at it.

Showing Respect in a Image

LI: Create a DLO showing respect using photos you have taken.

Respect is a big word that has lots of signs of respect. For example: in this image on top it shows me picking up the rubbish on the ground. Respect in our CARE awards means: being respecful to our environment and taking care of one other. Showing respect can be shown in many ways like: helping people, picking up rubbish, listening to the teacher or the person that is talking, not talking over the teacher, making things and giving to people.

Aretha Franklin Song Respect

LI: Research Aretha Franklin’s song RESPECT.

Aretha Fanklin was born in 25 March 1942 and 1960 is got her first hit song when she was 18. Aretha Franklin is a singer/artist. She makes many songs, but one of the songs we are forcing on was RESPECT. The reason we are forcing on the song RESPECT is because one of the CARE awards is respect. One of the facts I wrote was that: she won 18 grammys, and 122 singles. One of the lines of the song RESPECT is “R-E-S-P-E-C-T, take care, TCB.” TCB means taking care.

I found this activity diffcult because I never knew about Aretha Franklin, but I knew her song RESPECT.

Taniwha Art Moka-Ika-Hikuwaru

LI: To learn about the traditional history of the Tamaki River.

Moka-Ika-Hikuwaru is a taniwha that lives within the panmure. This taniwha had eight tails. Our design of Moka-Ika-Hikuwaru is, he is doing a pukana, and the sun doing a pukana like in the story of Maui and the sun. The pattern on its face has little hearts on the eyes and the mouth. To shows it love. The little design on its body is a sympol of the water flowing left to right. The coloured of the background shows that the green is that the taniwha is on land and the blue is the sky.

I found this activity diffcult because I didn’t know how to draw a taniwha from my mind and we wasn’t allowed to trace the taniwhas design.
