HPE – Basketball

I learnt basketball skills called dribbling and passing.

Dribbling is by using your knees, feet, and your hip. Dribbling is dribbling with fingers, but not palms. For example: dribbling with fingers helps the ball because it makes it easier to control the ball. Dribbling with a palm doesn’t help the ball because the ball will lose control. Bundling the hips and knees can control the ball while dribbling the ball.

Passing is used by arms and the whole body. Short passes are passing with arms. Long passing is using the whole body to pass. For example: a long pass is using the whole body, so the arms can pass faster and longer. A short pass is using arms, so it can pass in a short direction.

I enjoyed this task because I learnt new things about basketball. I need to improve on passing. I did well on dribbling the ball.

HPE – Rippa Rugby

I revised my passing skills.

First I practised passing with four people in my group. We form a square for us to pass the ball evenly. We held the ball by putting our left hand in front and our right hand on the end. We passed it clockwise. Then passed in anti clockwise.

Next we played a game called relay pass. Relay pass is a game by passing to your teammates. The people that are passing to you, you have to be behind the person that is passing to you. If you’re passing to a person the person has to be behind you.

Lastly we played a rippa tag. Rippa tag is played by versus another team. There are 3 people in each team. Your teammates has to rip the another players tag for them to win. There are 2 tags on each player. The other team has to rip your tag.

I enjoyed playing these games because I practised passing, so I can get better. I did well on passing. I need to improve on going behind the other people.
