Fractions

We learnt simple unit fractions.

First we learnt the difference between 2 groups and groups of 2. 2 groups are a even numbers cut in half. Groups of 2 are objects in a group in twos.

Next we learnt what a fraction is and what it has. A fraction has a numerator and a denominator. A numerator tells how many equal parts of the whole or collection you have.  The denominator is how many equal parts the whole has been cut into.

I enjoyed this task because I learnt difference between 2 groups and groups of 2. I need to improve on explaining what a fraction is. I did well on explaining the difference between 2 groups and groups of 2.

Compound Sentences

I learnt about compound sentences.

First we revised our states which were simple, continuous, and perfect. We revised our tenses there are present, past, and future.

Next we learnt what a compound sentences is. A compound sentences has a subject, a verb, a object, and fanboys. A compound sentence has two simple sentences. The fanboys are for, and, nor, but, or, yet, and so. to explain what a compound sentence is.

Lastly we revised that continuous sentences needs an ing because you are doing it for a unstopping period. We had to write 6 compound sentence using continuous present, continuous past, and continuous future.

I enjoyed this task because we had to use compound sentences. I did good at writing a continuous past sentences. I need to improve on writing a continuous future sentence because I wrote a past word when I’m supposed to write a continuous future sentence.

Vocabulary

We learnt to build word knowledge.

First we use our prior knowledge to answer what we already know about south pacific drums.

Then we started to define difficult words from the book called South Pacific Beats. We use word hippo and word smyth.

Last we started to find synonyms and antonyms of the word. Synonyms is a word that has a similar meaning to the other word. Antonyms is the opposite of the word. We drew images to match the word.

I enjoyed this task because we found lots of drums we never knew. I need to improve on writing the antonym because when I search the antonym I choose a word I don’t know. I need well on finding the synonym for the word.

Email Traffic

I learnt how to write a polite comment and a digital footprint.

First we revised on a greeting and subject. We thought about a greeting and a subject. We wrote it in an email to Mr Wong.

Then we revised on a sign off for our polite comment. We thought about a sign off for our polite comment. 

Lastly, we wrote a simple sentence, greeting, subject, and a sign off in our polite comment.

I enjoyed this task because it was all about polite comments. I need to improve on writing a sign off for the polite comment because I couldn’t think of a polite comment. I did well at writing my sign off.

Hockey Skills

Today we revised our hockey skills.

First we revised dribbling. We had to put the ball down and keep it still and rotate the hockey stick anti – clockwise. We also revised on moving and dribbling the ball. We learnt a rule in hockey that if the ball hits your foot its a penalty.

Then we played a game called taniwha. We had to move and dribble with the ball. There was someone singing the taniwha song and when they shout out taniwha they have to steal the ball and get you out. To get out by a taniwha they have to try and hit the ball on your foot. They also had to try and hit the ball out of the square.

After we played a game when we had to dribble, dribble, pass. There are colour cones like red, green, blue, and yellow. Someone will shout out a colour and their partner has to dribble, dribble, and pass it to you and the ball has to touch the cone.

Lastly we played a game called 4 corner hockey.

I enjoyed this game because it was fun and little hard to play. I need to improve on push pass because the ball always go behind my foot. I did good at dribbling the ball.

 

Place Value

Today we learnt our place value and number bonds.

First we played a game so we remember our number bonds. Number bonds is a simple addition of two numbers that add up to give the sum.

Then we used a site that was about number bonds. We had to choose a number that was a 4 digit. For example 2321.

Lastly we had to find out how many tens were in the hole number. We also had to find out how many hundreds were in the hole number.

I enjoyed this task because I learnt a trick to find how many tens and hundreds there are in the hole number. I did good at finding the tens and hundreds in the hole number. I need to improve on adding the number because I always add the number like number bonds.

Teamwork

 We learnt how to Identify characteristics of a good team member and Identify Actions and factors that can prevent a team from working cooperatively

First we define characteristics. For example, brave is a characteristic that explains that you’re not scared and you don’t fear anyone.

Then we put our negative words on the outside of the body and our positive words on the inside for example. Communicating, It is positive because it helps your team.

Lastly we played a game and it was all about teamwork. We failed because we didn’t communicate when we played the game.

We enjoyed this task because it was all about teamwork. We need to improve on communicating as a group. We did good at writing our negative and positive words. By Matheus, Taya, Brooke, Easton, Densyn, and Gianni.

 

Simple Sentence

I learnt simple sentences.

First I revised our 3 states. Simple, countinuous, and perfect. We also revised our times. Persent, past, and future.

Then I learnt subject, object, and verb. We use these to make a sentence. Subject is a actor, verb is a action, and object is a receiver. For example Trevor fell behind his team.

Last we had to write simple sentences. There was 3 simple sentences. Past simple, present simple, and future simple.

I enjoyed this task because it was hard writing a future simple sentence. I need to improve on writing a future simple sentence. I did good on writing a past simple sentence.

 

 

 

Time Hunters – SSR Selfie

I read 2 chapters in a book called time hunters.

First princess Isis and her cat stood outside of the towering carved. The gates of the afterlife.

Next princess Isis jumped off a pyramid and died at the age of ten. She did this because she wants to see the gates of the afterlife.

Last she saw an old dog that was big and tall. She never knew he was the god of the underworld. He growled. “ANUBIDOOBY?”

I enjoyed this task because I can read new books I never knew. I did good at explaining what the book is about. I need to improve on explaining more of the book I was reading.
