LI: To explore the world in 1840 and the art of the Treaty.
This week we looked at the what the world was like in 1840. One fact about the world in 1840 is, the first ever photo was taken in 1840. After this we identified some of the key people and their role in the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi. Something I found in the photo is, a person pointing towards the person that is signing the Treaty of Waitangi, looks like he doesn’t want to sign the Treaty of Waitangi because of his body language.
However the painting was made in 1938 and the Treaty of Waitangi was signed 98 years later. The painting was made by Marcus King. I found this really interesting because I learnt that I can infer images just by looking at them and using the prior knowledge and infer what the people in this paniting are doing.
