Writing – Rhymes

There are 4 different type of rhyme. For example: end of rhyme, alliteration, assonance, and consonance. 

Alliteration is repeating the first sound of the word. For example: zombie zerba zapped a ziplock.

End of ryhme is when a poem has lines ending with words that sound the same. For example: one, two, buckle my shoe, three, four, lock the door, five, six, pick up sticks, seven, eight, lay them stright, nine, ten, a big, fat hen.

Assonance is repeating the vowel sounds in the middle of words. For example: Hickory Dickory Dock, The mouse ran up the clock, The clock struck one, The mouse ran down, Hickory Dickory Dock!

Consonance repeats a consonant. For example: a flea and a fly Flew up in a flue. Said the flea, “Let us fly!” Said the fly, “Let tus flee!” So they flew through a flap in the flue.

Rhyme is repetitions of sounds in words that follow each other.
